In November 2004, our 45-acre wild deer park was created with the arrival of 2 stags, 12 hinds and 2,000 metres of deer fencing. Over the past three years, thirty young fawn have been born and there is now a well-established herd within the park.

For most of the year, bar the rutting season, you can stroll through the deer park - sika deer are very sociable and inquisitive creatures. Alternatively you can jog round the perimeter or take a walk through the woods. We would advise you to bring walking shoes if you wish to enjoy the land, but we do have a few spare pairs of "wellies" if you come unprepared.

In the summer months you can enjoy a game of croquet or sip tea on the terrace overlooking the ornamental ponds and gardens. For the more energetic we have two all-weather outdoor tennis courts and by prior arrangement we can organise archery and other outdoor pursuits in the grounds.

Reduced green fees have been arranged at several nearby golf courses.

The historic town of Lichfield is also well worth visiting. In Market Square you will find the Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum and the Lichfield Heritage Centre. In Beacon Street next to the Cathedral is the Erasmus Darwin Centre, the Georgian home of Lichfield's second most famous son. The medieval Cathedral, renowned for its three spires, is set in the most beautiful Cathedral Close next to Beacon Park.

Details of forthcoming events both at the Hotel and within Lichfield can be found on our Special Events page.
