Informal dining and great cocktails
For a more casual lunch or supper our Bar and Terrace Menu offers a selection of sandwiches, salads and bar food ranging from pasta dishes to a sirloin steak.
The Bar and Terrace menu is served from 12.00 – 3.00 pm and 6.00 – 10.00 pm in the bar, the green room or (weather permitting) on the terrace overlooking the gardens and deer park.
The bar, together with the ballroom, was built at the turn of the last century and was originally intended as a music and games room. The light well in the ceiling illuminated the billiards table and a pipe organ sat between the two round wooden pillars.
The pipe organ and billiards table are long gone but the room retains its Edwardian character with a wonderful triple glazed illuminated window, extensive mahogany panelling and a magnificent pair of elephant tusks brought back from Africa by Lt. Colonel Swinfen Broun.
The green room has a clubby feel with dark green leather Chesterfields and photographs and memorabilia of the Swinfen family in their heyday.
Both rooms exude a lazy calm where you can relax and unwind with a pint of beer, a glass of wine or a great cocktail.
The mahogany-panelled bar offers a relaxed place to enjoy a light bite with the adjacent Green Room offering a quieter, club-like atmosphere.
When the British weather permits eating outdoors, the Terrace offers fabulous, far-reaching views over the formal gardens and deer-park.
