DISCOUNTED WEDDING PACKAGES FOR AUTUMN 2012
We still have a few prime dates left in September and October (including Friday 7th September, Saturday 15th September and Friday 19th October) which, due to the relatively short lead time, we are now able to offer at very special rates.  The late Summer is a lovely time of the year to get married with the gardens in full flower and long, warm evenings. Although you may have been considering a slightly longer time-scale, the savings are considerable and Ruth, our Weddings Manager, has a wealth of experience and good contacts and will help you every step of the way.  Please contact Ruth or Stuart if you would like to know more about these opportunities.

GOURMET DINNER WITH ARMIT WINES - A TRIP TO THE SPANISH VINEYARDS
FRIDAY 18TH MAY- £78 per person

On Friday 18th May, Andrew Johnson from Armit Wines makes a welcome return to Swinfen to educate and amuse on the subject of Spanish wines.   Spain is the third largest producer of wine in the world and grows over 400 varieties of grapes and yet apart from Tempranillo, which is used to make Rioja, many of us and are hard-pushed to name any more.  This is the evening to change all that.  Although Adam has not written a Spanish menu, he has been influenced by Iberian flavours and produce to ensure the dishes complement Andrews choice of wines, which include the excellent 2001 Vina Ardanza Reserva Especial.  The evening begins at 7.15 pm with Champagne and canapés on the cocktail terrace followed by a superb six-course gourmet dinner in the Ballroom at 8.00 pm.  Tickets are priced at £78 and include Champagne reception, six-course gourmet dinner with all accompanying wines, coffee and petit-fours and great company.

DIAMOND JUBILEE TEA PARTY in aid of Acorns Hospice
SUNDAY 27TH MAY - £15.95 per person/ £22.95 with glass of Champagne

Our Diamond Jubilee Tea Party starts in the Ballroom at 3.45 pm with a splendid performance of classical, modern and tap dance from the senior vocational dancers at Abbots Bromley School for Girls.  When the show ends at 4.30 pm you will be waltzed through to the restaurant for an afternoon tea fit for a Queen.  Our Pastry Chef, Margot has teamed up with Trudie Randolph from Alexandra Cakes to produce a splendid selection of Jubilee cakes and biscuits to sit alongside delicate finger sandwiches and freshly baked-buttermilk scones with cream and jam. Tickets available from reception on 01543 481494.

SUNDAY LUNCH WITH JAZZ PIANIST LEVI FRENCH
Sunday 17th June - 2-courses £29.50 3-courses £36 - Children aged 2-12 Half-price

Levi French is a formidable keyboard player with a fabulous repertoire ranging from traditional jazz classics to his own timeless compositions and we are delighted he will be playing for us on 17th June during Sunday lunch in the Ballroom.  Adams menu includes all the family favourites - roast sirloin of Aberdeen Angus beef, Packington pork with crispy crackling & apple sauce and sticky toffee pudding with home-made ice cream - alongside lighter, healthier options.  By mid-June we should have a few baby deer in the park, so bring your walking shoes and after lunch walk off those extra calories and spot our new arrivals.

BLACK-TIE MIDSUMMER CHAMPAGNE DINNER
FRIDAY 29TH JUNE - £110 per person

Our Midsummer Champagne Dinner is a heady mix of fine food, glorious Champagnes, elegant music and posh frocks.  Adam has written a lovely six-course Summer menu and we have teamed each dish with a different style of Champagne - vintage, rose, non-vintage, demi-sec from a wide range of grand marquee Champagne houses including Pol Roger, Veuve Cliquot, Billiecart Salmon and Ayala.   Splendid weather is forecast so cocktails and canapés will be served on the terrace overlooking the gardens and ornamental ponds from 7.15 pm followed by dinner in the Ballroom at 8.00 pm, where Simon Partridge will add a musical backdrop of vintage vocals from the 1940s.  The evening will be hosted by Stuart Kennedy, our Operations Manager, who will provide both fact and anecdote on the subject of Champagne and explain our rationale for the choice of menu and wines.

SWINFEN GOOD LIFE GOURMET DINNER
FRIDAY 10TH AUGUST - £78 per person

This is our stab at self-sufficiency where (nearly) all the produce will come from our own grounds.   There will be estate-reared wild venison and rabbit, an abundance of fruit, vegetables and herbs from the walled garden and local cheese. Flowers and foliage from the gardens will decorate the tables but the wines will definitely be coming from further afield.
